About Chantal

Artist Statement

Chantal Gagnon is an abstract artist and creative director whose work captures the energy of spaces and emotions through colour and texture. Chantal’s art is deeply inspired by Spirituality, intuition and energy. Chantal absorbs the energies of spaces, people, and moments, and transmutes them through painting, installation, and mark-making. Each colour, each texture, is a response to what is felt but often unspoken. She does not set out to impose meaning, but allows meaning to emerge. What begins as reflection becomes revelation.

Chantal lives through experimentation, imperfection, and transformation. Her early life was filled with trial and error – touching the fire to understand its heat. But now, she steps into a quieter phase of observation, distillation, and embodied wisdom. She no longer chase answers; but hold space for what wants to arise.

Her art is not fixed in medium or message. It is living, breathing, and responsive. It is a practice of deep listening and gentle release – a ritual of clearing the mirror so truth can appear. In a world of noise, Chantal seek to make work that whispers yer has the ability to completely alter the energy of a space.

Chantal’s creative process is a mirror – sensitive, cyclical, and intimately shaped by the world around her. She creates like the moon moves: slowly, reflectively, and in phases. Her work is less about control and more about communion with environment, intuition, and emotion.

Through cycles of creative destruction and rebirth, Chantal offers portals – fragile, colourful, intuitive – for others to witness their own becoming. Chantal’s role is not to tell you what to see, but to offer a space where you might see yourself more clearly.

Photography, film, installation, sculpture, writing and design further enrich her practice, creating sensory experiences that feel both intentional and deeply intuitive.

Professional & Spiritual Development

My intuitive practice has been shaped by teachers and guides who deepen presence, compassion, and trust in the inner voice, including: Lynnette Brown, Dr. Divi Chandna, Sonia Choquette, and Eckhart Tolle. Their teachings helped me bring together energy, spirituality, and grounded transformation in the way I support others today.

I also bring a deep connection to creativity. I’ve spent many years studying art and creative processes at California College of the Arts and the University of the Arts London: London College of Communication, as well as working within the arts and creative industries as a designer, creative strategist and artist.

Creativity isn’t just a skillset for me, it’s a way of listening to the soul.

Clarissa Pinkola Estés | The Creative Fire

An Artist is an Artist before they have ever produced a single thing.

An Artist is an Artist no matter what. The production of something is not what makes a body an a artist. It’s the soul that makes the artist. The Center of the psyche that fills the person, the creative fire inside a person that makes them an artist. If a person has the soul of an artist, that is they have the fire, the burning, as each and every individual does, then they are an artist. They are entitled to the title of artist. We are all entitled to the title of artist before we have produced a single thing.

MADE EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOU

commission

Want a one-of-a-kind piece made to your specific specifications?

Here are some things to think about before you decide to commission:

  • What size do I need?

  • What is my budget?

  • What energy am I trying to shift and emanate in my space?

The process

Every commission starts with a consultation. There is absolutely no obligation or consultation fee. Whether you're commissioning something for your family home or several works for a corporate project, the process remains the same.

I walk all clients through a visualisation to get a clear idea of how you would like the space to feel with a new artwork.

I want to know everything about your vision and the mood you want to evoke. I want to know some of your favourite pieces. I'd love to see the space or wall where you're planning on hanging the piece. If you have other colours and textiles in the room, I'd love to see those too.

Once we've decided on the size and I understand the vision, I will put together a design direction brief. This is key as I want to make sure I'm exactly getting the tones and undertones that you're hoping for.

With a clear vision for your commission outlined, I will send over a contract for both of us to sign. It will outline the agreed upon size, design direction, finishing elements, price, and delivery method. I do retain all copyrights to my works, even custom commissions.

Once both parties have signed the contract, and full payment has been rendered, I then get to work on your commission.

Depending on the scale and my current pipeline of projects commissions take anywhere from 1-3 months. Though a specific date will be given to you in the contract.

I do not send progress photos as finished works usually end up looking nothing like the process photos. Whenever I feel I have captured your vision and finished the work I will send photos to you for review. If there are any changes that you would like made, within the scope of our agreement, I will happily make them. Once you are 100% satisfied with your piece, I seal it with UV protection and a thicker varnish to protect from spills and long term damage. I put on the hanging apparatus and get the piece ready for delivery.
